What do I do if I’ve forgotten my login details?

Your username is your email address. If you have forgotten your password, click here. If you've forgotten your email address please contact us here.

How do I change my username?

Go to your profile and select 'edit'. You can then change your email address here. You will receive an email confirming this, and then a further email to the new address to activate it.

Invitation

I’ve just received an email from datemy saying someone has signed me up. What should I do now?

Congratulations! Click on the link within the email, read what they have written about you. You can make changes to certain bits of your profile. If you’re happy to go ahead just follow our steps to becoming a subscribed datemy member, giving your Matchmaker full matchmaking privileges. Sit back and let them do the hard work for you, or do it with them!

Subscription

What’s the difference between a Matchmaker membership and a single person subscription?

As a Matchmaker your membership is free and becomes fully active once your single person has signed up to a paid subscription. A Matchmaker doesn’t have a profile but is the host of their single persons. They send out Matchmaker Requests and blind date invitations to other Matchmakers on behalf of their single person. The single member can search and share, chat to other members and receive blind date invitations.

Do I have to pay?

Membership is free for Matchmakers. There is a monthly fee for the single member subscription but we have ensured this is fair. We have also included free months into our packages.

Why do you charge?

We believe that by charging members, people are really committed to using datemy, which creates a better site for everyone. It also allows us to treat you to the occasional gift…watch this space.

How much do I have to pay?

We are launching with complete free membership for all single members until 2015. After this point we will be introducing a few subscription packages which are listed below. Memberships are purchased up front. All our prices will include VAT.

  • £20 for 1 month
  • £11.25 a month for 3 months + 1 Month Free [£45]
  • £7.50 a month for 6 months + 2 Months free [£60.00]
  • £4.80 a month for 12 months + 3 Months free [£72.00]

How do I pay?

You can pay by credit or debit card through PayPal. You don’t have to have an account with PayPal to do this. Just select the subscription you would like to sign up for. We will be introducing more payment methods along the way.

Cancellation

What if I find someone before my subscription is over, how do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time; it must be done within your subscription period. Go to settings and select, ‘cancel subscription’. Your subscription is available with full functionality until the last paid day. After this time your account is still present but won’t be active. Cancelling your subscription does not delete your profile with datemy.co.uk.

How do I delete my profile?

We're sorry to see you go. Go to settings, click on the 'delete my account' button. A pop up box will open asking you to confirm this. Please note: this will not cancel your subscription.

What happens if I’m a Matchmaker and I delete my account?

If you’re a Matchmaker, deleting your account will delete your single person’s profile.

What happens if I’m not a Matchmaker and I want to delete my account?

If you are the single person, deleting your profile will remove it from your Matchmakers account and they won't be able to be your Matchmaker anymore.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are only given if your subscription is cancelled within 7 days of a payment being made for a subscription and your account has not been active. As PayPal is our main payment service currently, refunds are managed through us. Please contact us here if you require a refund.

Matchmakers

Can a Matchmaker talk to single people?

No, this is restricted. Only single members can chat to each other through datemy, once a match is made.

Can a Matchmaker sign up more than one single person?

Yes! If you have another person in mind you can select, ‘add another person’ at the top of your page and go through the sign up process again. You can then switch between profiles at the top of your homepage.

Can a single person have more than one Matchmaker?

No! Otherwise they would have too many dates to go on and that’s just greedy.

I’ve signed up my Single person but they haven’t yet subscribed, what can I do?

You can still log in and select matches to keep encouraging them to sign up. The real matchmaking can’t begin until they’ve subscribed!

Matchbox

What is the Matchbox?

Each member has their own Matchbox, which is where all of the shared, pending, matched, and declined profiles go into. The Matchbox syncs between both users so that everything is shared. If you have signed up more than one person you will have a separate Matchbox for them.

What is the share button?

When either user would like to share a potential match with each other they select this icon and that profile is then saved within the Matchbox under 'shared'.

Matchmaker Requests

What is a Matchmaker Request and how do I send one?

As a Matchmaker, when you find someone who is a good match for your single person you can send their Matchmaker a Matchmaker request. If the request is accepted then a match is made! The profile will be automatically saved in ‘Matched’ within the Matchbox. If the request is declined a match is turned down and no further matchmaking can take place. When a request is pending it means a Matchmaker is awaiting approval on a request.

Can single people send out Matchmaker Requests?

No, not to other Matchmakers, but they can send out requests to their personal Matchmaker if they would like to be matched with someone.

Blind date invitations

What is a blind date invitation?

As a Matchmaker, once a match is made you can send a blind date invitation by clicking this icon on the profile. You will be able to arrange a date and place for your matches to meet. The invitation is sent on to the other Matchmaker to either approve, change and approve, or decline. If the Matchmaker approves, the invite is then sent on to the matched single pair for them to confirm.

Can single people send a blind date invitation?

No they can just receive an invitation.

Email notifications

How do I stop my email notifications?

You can change your email notifications to suit you, depending on whether you want to be alerted about a new match, or new message, etc. Go to settings and select which notifications you want to receive and which you don’t. You can choose to turn all alerts off and just log in to see your new alerts if you’d prefer.

Privacy

What details are shown on the profile?

If you’re a Matchmaker all that will be shown is your connection to the single person you have added. If you’re the single person all that will be shown is your photo, location and a brief profile. All contact details are kept private.

Safety

Is online dating safe?

When introduced to someone on datemy.co.uk our single members have the chance to talk further with their matches before meeting, which does provide a safer option to dating. We advise that you take the same precautions when meeting someone in the real world.

Are my details safe?

All your details are kept private; no one will know your email address or personal details. Every profile is verified before going live on datemy.co.uk. If you would like more advice please get in touch at hello@datemy.co.uk and we'd be happy to talk further.

Verification

How long will it take to approve my profile?

We try to approve profiles within 24 hours, 7 days a week. As we are a small team this may take longer at times, apologies if it does, please bear with us.

Can a profile go live before its been approved by the single person?

No, once the Matchmaker has written the profile their single person must approve it. They can see what’s been written, their photos and potential matches before paying for a subscription.

Searching

How do I search in the site?

Click on the search tab at the top of the page. You can then use the filters to choose your preference for location or age.

Who can search the site?

Both Matchmakers and single people can search the site. Visitors can search before becoming a member, but to view full profiles they need to become a member.

Why can’t I find anyone?

You may want to adjust your search filters. Please bear with us whilst the site continues to grow. More and more people are being added daily.

Profile

I’ve got writers block, what do I need to write?

Don't worry we recommend writing a relatively short profile - 97 words is enough to keep someone interested and still wanting to hear more. Whether you're the Matchmaker or single person, write about your hobbies, appearance, personality or job, for example.

What if the photo won’t upload?

The photo size may be too big. The file size must be 5mb, and either a JPG or PNG file. Or if you’re using an iPhone with IOS5, the software won’t allow you to upload an image. Swap devices if you can.

Are photos necessary?

Yes we think so. If you’re camera shy just remember, people who have at least three photos get twice as many messages as people with only one photo! Matchmakers can select photos for their single person taking the pressure off choosing.

Feedback

I have a suggestion about how to make your site better, how do I contact you?

You can contact us here if you’d like to get in touch with feedback, a question, or even to tell us about your datemy love story.
